A new name and a positive outlook on the future: Smartpost Itella becomes SmartPosti

2/5/2025

With the aim of becoming the forerunner of logistics in the Baltics, Smartpost Itella is now SmartPosti. Moving even closer to its Finnish parent company “Posti” – a modern and international logistics giant with nearly nearly 400 years of experience, a new brand has been adopted, adding the letter ”I” to Smartpost. The use of Itella in the name will be discontinued in all Baltic countries.

“Our goal is to build an even stronger brand - across all the Baltic countries. Consumers choose strong brands, and companies choose brands that their customers prefer. Ensuring the smooth flow of everyday life is what makes our customers choose SmartPosti. Providing an effortless experience for our customers is at the core of everything we do, and we aim to continue evolving this in the future," says Gediminas Mickus, manager in  Baltic countries.

Constant development and benefiting from being part of something bigger

The rise of e-commerce is expected to continue. To keep up with growth and to ensure customers with an even higher standard of service, business development will continue.

"We need to keep our eye on the future and ensure we are ready to meet and exceed our customers' expectations while building a more sustainable future. We are continuously evolving with cutting-edge digital solutions that make managing and receiving deliveries effortless and adaptable. The new sorting center in Estonia, with its focus on energy efficiency and readiness for an e-fleet, exemplifies our investments in sustainability. We can leverage the expertise of the entire Posti Group in digital development and creating more sustainable and effortless logistics in Latvia as well such as taking steps towards fossil-free transportation," Gediminas Mickus continues.

The new sorting center in Estonia opening in March, will ensure our customers an even higher standard of service and maintain our market quality leader role. With an investment of approximately 14 million euros, it will be the largest of our sorting centers in the Baltics, more than doubling the parcel sorting capacity compared to now.

“Working together as one Posti, we can also benefit from attracting larger audience and capturing public attention. An example of this were the mysterious “I” that Latvians could notice last week – the object was located both physically and in virtual environment,” Gediminas Mickus says.

The change is part of a larger brand transformation

The name change is part of a bigger change where Posti starts to operate under the name Posti in all countries. In autumn 2024 Transval in Finland was changed to Posti, during spring 2025 the name Aditro Logistics in Sweden will change to Posti and the name SmartPosti will be used in the Baltic countries. Growing together across the region is Posti’s goal.

“International growth is one of our strategic focus areas. Aligning our operations further and operating under one brand will help us build an even stronger company that utilizes its strengths and sustainable innovation capabilities across borders. With this, we offer growth options also for our customers,” Posti’s CEO Antti Jääskeläinen concludes.
